"Joy to the World" - Edson Berton Artist Profile

Since completing a PhD in 2005 Dr Edson Burton has written four plays for Radio 4. In addition Edson wrote a historical drama to commemorate the bicentenary of the abolition of the Trans-atlantic slave trade. Nanny of the Maroons was broadcast on regional radio in 2007.
Alongside radio drama, Edson has written short and full length plays for theatre. His first full production Children of Salt was the stand out show from Theatre West’s high quality 2010 autumn season.
In 2008 his first collection of poetry Seasoned was published by Bristol based publishing company City Chameleon. Edson combines creative writing with research, poetry performance, talks and storytelling. He has been a guest on several Radio 4 and local radio discussion programmes including Poetry Please and Off the Page.
