Joy to the World - Joyful Choir, Joyful Noise!

The fruit of Renewal's labour paid off with a wholehearted and spirited performance at the Joy to the world Christmas Celebration concert last Saturday night at the Colston Hall. A real treat for the near capacity crowed as well as the 50 strong choir and band where excitement and anticipation had been building up and gaining momentum over the weeks running up to the event
Kim, Renewal's animated and encouraging choir direction, maintained the choir's focus throughout the inspired journey of song styles and complexity to deliver a truly magnificent song repertoire with carol arrangements and a couple of original songs thrown into the mix for a little added spice. In support of the choir Philip kept the musicians playing sweet and steady....that is until the the "Hallelujah Chorus" where musicians and the "Hallelujah Chorus" mass choir were permitted to let their hair down a little during this rousing event finale.
Variety is the spice of life and guest artists Celestine Walcott-Gordon, Edson Burton and Maxine Barclay all provided plenty of it as they each gave solid and uplifting performances to boost proceedings. Also, as a treat for all present, Renewal's dynamic duo Geraldine & Louise provided great lead vocals to the debut public performance of "Change the World" the the single currently being produced by the choir in support of the work of the Charity Christian Aid. In addition to providing an amazing musical experience, the concert also drew attention to the important work of Christian Aid and in particular the provision of water projects in Africa for safe, clean water and improved sanitation. A collection was taken up through the Christian Aid West arm of the organisation on the night to support this ongoing area of the charity's work.
All in all, this event was indeed a good tonic for the soul where the inspirational evening touched hearts and minds as a timely reminder that Christmas is about hope, peace and joy to the World.
