On Saturday 8 December 2007 a major city-wide celebration event was birthed as the inaugural annual gospel music celebration event for Bristol inspiring a sense of civic pride in all who were present. The exciting and vibrant atmosphere was just a shadow of the things to come for the future as we look forward to a positive legacy in this commemorative year of the abolition of slave trade.
The event finale “Hallelujah Chorus” was the embodiment of the hugely successfully delivery of an uplifting repertoire where artists black and white, young and old, novice and experienced came together on stage to make a truly “joyful noise”.
This collaborative efforts across cultural and geographic communities serves as a powerful demonstration of what can be achieved to lift the spirit by tapping into the rich artistic and creative genre of gospel music. Thank you and well done to all who contributed to a the resounding success of this inaugural event.
