The St Mary Redcliffe & Temple School Gospel Choir have been performing now for 6½ years under the direction of Mrs Maureen Morris a teacher at the school. During this time the choir have sung at a number of local Christian outreach events. More recently the choir has performed at the illustrious St Georges on Brandon Hill in a gospel showcase event in March 2009. The choir thoroughly enjoyed performing previously with Renewal choir 2 years ago and now and are looking forward to being a part of the event celebrations.

Renewal Choir brings down the house as it closes out the “Celebrating Age Festival” held at the Council House, College Green, Bristol. The event was staged by Bristol City Council in partnership with a range of local organisations promoting healthier lifestyles and activities for the “young at heart”. The Choir was the last event on the programme and closed out proceeding with a rendition of “O Happy Day” which brought everyone to their feet, energetically dancing and singing with enough gusto to put much of the younger generation to shame….. what a finale!

On Sunday 27 September Renewal Choir joined with the local community of Stow on the Wold in a harvest festival of “Songs of Praise”. We raised the roof at the St Edwards Church to close out the annual weekend festival on a high note!
Being first “up to bat” is often a daunting task for the ones who step out on stage as the first artist to open up a festival especially one the size of Bristol’s Harbourside Festival. Renewal was undaunted by the occasion, or the typical British summer weather of rain and more rain (and a less than adequate sound check).
We stepped out on stage to chase away the rain and bring a ray of sunshine to the festival revellers who appeared truly delighted at the joy and gusto of the choir as we were taken through our paces with a vigorous “pogo” jumping praise session led by Kim to the song Rejoice!

There’s nothing like a good song to lift the spirits and bring a smile to the face and on Saturday 3 October when Bristol’s young at heart will be busy showing some of the younger members of the Renewal what real celebration is all about .
The event will be hosted by Bristol City Council at the Council House in partnership with a range of local organisations promoting healthier lifestyles and activities for the “young at heart”. The Choir will be part of a line up of local artist performing throughout the day. Renewal will be the final group to take the stage and are really looking forward to fantastic finale to bring the event to a climax and a real mood of celebration.
Choir sings at 3:00pm
