Renewal Choir is drawing upon Bristol’s rich gospel music talent base to lay on a feast of sound, music and movement covering a range of eras and styles found within music of black origin. Handel’s Messiah, Soulful Celebration is an African-American arrangement consisting of a blend of elements of jazz, soul, reggae and hip-hop mixed with elements of the original composition.

Renewal Choir, event host, will perform a number of pieces from this exciting arrangement of Handel’s inspired work.  The choir will also be joined by a selection of local gospel artists including St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School Gospel Choir, Bristol’s Celestine Walcott-Gordon, Ikay Agu, local group InSeason,  UWE Gospel Choir,  performance poet Miles Chambers and other distinguished local gospel artist who will “showcase” their talents breathing new life into the production 250 years after Handel’s time.
